Commissioned by Robert Sorton, assistant principal oboist of the Detroit
Symphony Orchestra in 1984. Mr. Sorton wished to increase the repertoire
of the oboe d'amore and desired a modern, lyric work for the instruments
of a Baroque chamber ensemble.
Premiered on the Brunch With Bach Concert Series at The Detroit
Institute of Art on July 13, 1984.
